WHAT YOU'LL DO
Supervise 2-3 accountants and review their accounting, reporting, and cash management functions.
- Meet regularly to review and discuss staff’s accounting workload.
- Set goals for staff and evaluate performance throughout the year.
- Provide guidance for recording journal entries on property sales, loan refinancing, recapitalizations, and other significant transactions.
- Review and process capital calls and distributions for the investment funds and impact pool.
- Perform detailed review of property, investment fund, and impact pool financial statements prepared by direct reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with monthly close procedures.
- Review monthly budget to actual variance explanations.
- Perform detailed review of quarterly fund reports, fund financial statements, and account reconciliations.
- Assist with monitoring debt and affordability covenants.
- Review monthly, quarterly, or annual reporting for internal purposes, JV partners, investors, and lenders.
- Support and collaborate with other departments on asset acquisitions, dispositions, monthly draws, and cash management needs, among other items.
- Work with third party auditors on year-end tax and audit requests.
- Lead special projects or global initiatives.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED (REQUIREMENTS)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and a CPA.
- 5 years of accounting work experience, preferably 1-2 years of management experience.
- Experience managing a team and providing constructive feedback on a regular basis.
- Team player who is organized, proactive, self-directed, conscientious, and assumes accountability and responsibility for specific performance and work product for themselves and their team.
- Strong organization and leadership skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable interacting and communicating with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Real estate experience is strongly preferred
- Public accounting experience is a plus.
- Yardi or other accounting software is a plus.
The salary range for this position is $120,000-$130,000 annually. In addition to base salary, a discretionary bonus will be offered. Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline.
