Full Job Description
We currently have a job opportunity for an Accounting Manager based out of our Mississauga head office located at 5750 Explorer Drive. This is a newly created full-time, permanent position.

Role Overview

The Accounting Manager serves as the company's "lead accountant" and oversees all day-to-day finance and accounting operations. Their primary goals are to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulations and implement internal controls to mitigate risk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead accounting operations, including analysts, AP and AR, overseeing transaction processing, reconciliations, month/year-end close, tax, banking, and cash management
  • Responsible for the month end, quarter end, and year end closes in support of timely accurate complete financial statements for internal and external reporting
  • Oversee GST/HST, QST, payroll, and other statutory filings, remittances, audits, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Manage banking, insurance, and corporate financial relationships, including applications, reporting, and issue resolution.
  • Lead, mentor, train, and manage accounting team members while setting departmental priorities and supporting cross-functional operations.

Qualifications
  • University degree in Business/Accounting or professional accounting designation CPA or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10 years' relevant experience in progressively senior accounting or finance positions
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting, financial management, internal controls, planning, and auditing
  • Thorough knowledge of all relevant Federal, Provincial, and local requirements regarding financials, taxes, records, and other similar items is essential
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role
  • Expertise and knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, practices, and applications
  • Managerial experience leading team in a fast-paced environment

Skills & Competencies
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficiency with Excel
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems, SAP By Design is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Able to present information in a clear and concise manner
  • Proactive and deadline focused with a sense of urgency
  • Sound business judgement to take decisive action
