Accounting Manager - Construction

$140,000-$160,000 base DOE + bonus potential

Our client, a 4th-generation family-owned and operated subcontractor construction company, is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to lead accounting and financial operations. This is a high-visibility, onsite role ideal for an Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant ready to step into an Accouting Manager position.
What You'll Do
- Lead full-cycle accounting, month-end and year-end close
- Prepare financial statements and management reports
- Manage WIP, job costing, and percentage-of-completion accounting
- Oversee cost accounting and project financials
- Handle union accounting, reporting, and payroll coordination
- Assist with lien releases and project documentation
- Complete customer and project pre-qualification packages
- Support budgeting and forecasting initiatives
- Manage banking relationships, including line of credit reporting and covenant compliance
- Support HR-related accounting functions (medical insurance, pension programs)
- Serve as the financial lead for the office, supporting ownership and leadership
What They're Looking For
- 5-10+ years of full-cycle accounting experience
- Construction industry experience required (GC or subcontractor)
- Strong cost accounting and WIP reporting experience
- Experience with $10M-$20M+ revenue environments
- Hands-on professional comfortable owning all aspects of accounting
- Vista by Viewpoint software experience REQUIRED
- Ability to communicate professionally with banks and AR customers
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (highly preferred)
