Accounting Manager, Capital Denver, CO Position Summary: The Accounting Manager, Capital, is responsible for leading the accounting activities related to capital projects and homes. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, and compliance with GAAP while partnering closely with Development, Operations, Tax, Finance, and Sales teams to support capital initiatives, purchasing decisions, and operational performance. Key Responsibilities: • Oversee the full cycle of capital assets, including capitalization, depreciation schedules, disposals, asset audits, and maintenance of complete and accurate asset subledgers • Manage the Capital Asset Request process to facilitate final request approvals • Review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations related to capital and home inventory accounting • Manage accounting for new and used homes, including purchases, refurbishment costs, valuation considerations, and disposals • Lead month-end close activities for asset- and home-related accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules • Develop, maintain, and enforce internal controls for asset tracking, cost accumulation, and safeguarding of company property • Prepare and review home roll-forwards, capital spend reporting, home purchase and disposal reporting, and related management reports • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Development, Sales, Tax, and Finance teams to ensure accurate data, resolve accounting matters, and support business decisions • Serve as a primary accounting contact for internal and external audit requests related to capital assets and home inventory • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline asset tracking, workflows, reporting, reconciliations, and automation opportunities • Support system data integrity by ensuring accurate setup, classification, documentation, and maintenance of asset records within related systems • Mentor accountants through coaching, feedback, career development planning, and performance discussions Qualifications (Required): • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field • Strong knowledge of GAAP, including capitalization policies, depreciation methods, and cost accounting principles • Experience with fixed asset accounting, cost accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting • Proficiency with ERP systems such as Yardi, MRI, or similar platforms • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and communicate insights clearly • Demonstrated ability to manager priorities, workflows, deadlines, and cross-functional deliverables in a fast-paced environment • High attention to detail, strong discipline in documentation, and commitment to maintaining accurate records and effective controls • Leadership experience, including supervising staff, coordinating workstreams, or leading accounting processes Experience (Preferred): • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant exposure to fixed asset accounting, capital project accounting, real estate development accounting, or inventory accounting • Experience managing refurbishment cost tracking, valuation adjustments, impairment considerations, or inventory reserve analysis • Experience overseeing multi-location or multi-entity accounting operations • Preferred CPA or CMA certification Key Competencies: • Strong business partnership and cross-functional collaboration • Process improvement mindset with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and scalability • Clear communication and ability to translate accounting information for operational stakeholders • Sound judgment, accountability, and ownership of critical accounting processes • Ability to lead through change and support continuous improvement initiatives COMPENSATION: $100,000 - $115,000 + 10% annual bonus opportunity We've been alerted to fraudulent recruiting outreach impersonating our company.
