POSITION SUMMARY: The Accounting Manager will be based in Miami and oversee all accounting, tax and treasury operations for a large-scale JV construction project in the USVI. The role includes regular coordination with on-site teams and may require periodic travel to the project location.
This position requires strong expertise in accounting operations, cash management, compliance, and financial reporting in a multi-entity and international (US GAAP & IFRS) environment.
The Accounting Manager acts as a key partner to the Head of Accounting and project leadership to ensure financial integrity, compliance, and accuracy throughout the project lifecycle, while coordinating closely with the Cost Controller for project financial monitoring
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Treasury & Cash Management
- Manage day-to-day treasury operations supporting the USVI project
- Monitor bank accounts, liquidity needs, and outgoing payments
- Coordinate payment scheduling and approval processes with the Head of Accounting
- Ensure proper funding coordination between Miami headquarters and project entities
Reconciliations & Accounting Operations
- Oversee and perform all key reconciliations:
- Vendor/supplier reconciliations
- Accounts receivable reconciliations
- Intercompany reconciliations (HQ vs. project entities)
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close
- Ensure proper recording of accounting transactions, accruals, and balances
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies and outstanding balances
Payroll Accounting & Compliance
- Oversee payroll accounting for project employees (USVI + any mainland support)
- Post payroll journal entries and ensure correct accounting treatment
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with USVI, federal, and local tax regulations
- Support preparation of tax filings in coordination with external advisors
- Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities
- Maintain audit-ready documentation for all project financial activities
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages (IFRS / US GAAP as applicable)
- Produce weekly and monthly cash reports and variance analysis
- Ensure consistency and integrity of financial data across systems
Accounts Payable Management
- Supervise Accounts Payable activities related to the project
- Ensure proper coding aligned with accounting structure and approvals
- Review and approve invoices and payment runs
- Ensure timely vendor and subcontractor payments
- Lead supplier account reconciliation and cleanup initiatives
Partnership & Process Improvement
- Act as a key financial partner to the Head of Accounting and project leadership.
- Provide financial insights on accounting, cash flow, and financial risks
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes in coordination with the Cost Controller
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and system enhancements
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with group procedures
QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 5-7 years of accounting experience, including management responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
- Experience in construction, infrastructure, or project-based environments preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate remotely with project teams and travel occasionally to USVI.
- Experience in international or Caribbean environments is a plus.
