JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining the integrity of financial data, and supporting timely and accurate reporting. This role ensures compliance with internal policies and GAAP while partnering with leadership to support financial transparency and operational efficiency. Supervises core accounting processes and staff while contributing to audit readiness, budgeting support, and continuous process improvement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Accounting Operations
  2. Manage daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activity
  3. Ensure accurate and timely completion of monthly close processes, including reconciliations
  4. Maintain financial records and ensure adherence to established policies and procedures
  5. Support implementation and improvement of accounting systems and workflows
  6. Financial Reporting & Compliance
  7. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  8. Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable nonprofit and regulatory requirements
  9. Assist in preparing schedules and documentation for annual audits
  10. Support grant accounting and ensure adherence to funding and reporting requirements
  11. Budgeting & Analysis Support
  12. Assist leadership with budget preparation and monitoring
  13. Analyze financial results and provide variance explanations
  14. Support departmental financial tracking and reporting
  15. Cash & Controls
  16. Assist with cash management and monitoring of organizational financial activity
  17. Help maintain internal control systems to safeguard assets and ensure compliance
  18. Identify and recommend process improvements to strengthen financial controls
  19. Team Leadership & Collaboration
  20. Supervise and support accounting staff, providing guidance and professional development
  21. Foster a collaborative, detail-oriented, and accountable team environment
  22. Partner cross-functionally with program and leadership teams to support financial needs
  23. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or hours vary with location. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
TRAVEL:
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS AND REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Must pass state and federal background checks, including fingerprints.
  3. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  4. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  5. Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting practices
  6. Experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close
  7. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  8. Responsible work ethic with reliable attendance.
  9. Employees are expected to remain alert, attentive, and fully engaged in their responsibilities during all working hours. Sleeping while on duty is strictly prohibited.
  10. Proven ability and willingness to be self-directed in problem solving and decision-making and perform basic assignments with little or no direct supervision while also working effectively as a team member.
  11. Demonstrated intermediate level of computer skills necessary to use and create documents and reports, spreadsheets, workshop materials and slide presentations, and to enter data into intricate database programs and proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.
  12. Must keep all matters concerning participants in strictest confidence as required by HIPAA privacy and the 42 CFR, Part II confidentiality regulations.
  13. Must be able to provide own transportation to meet work schedule requirements.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  1. Experience in a nonprofit or grant-funded environment
  2. Prior supervisory or team leadership experience
  3. CPA or progress toward certification
  4. Familiarity with multi-program or multi-entity accounting environments
