Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, ensuring timely financial reporting.
  • Manage general ledger operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
  • Analyze financial results and variances, providing insightful reports to executive leadership.
  • Support inventory controls and accounting in a manufacturing and distribution setting.
  • Oversee sales tax compliance and prepare audit schedules for internal and external audits.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
  • Drive process improvements and strengthen accounting controls to support growth initiatives.

Full Job Description
THE TEAM YOU WILL BE JOINING
  • Join the corporate accounting team supporting a growing private equity backed manufacturing and distribution organization with approximately $125M in annual revenue and a clear growth strategy.
  • Report directly to the CFO while partnering closely with an experienced Controller
  • Collaborate with accounting professionals supporting multiple business units across the organization, including teams located in both North Carolina and the Midwest.
  • Become part of a collaborative, tenured leadership team that values open communication, flexibility, and a hands-on approach to solving business challenges.
  • Gain exposure to acquisitions, multi-entity accounting, financial integrations, and executive level decision making as the business continues to expand.

LOCATION
  • Hybrid work environment based at the corporate headquarters in Concord, NC.
  • Four days in the office and one remote

  • Lead month end, quarter end, and year end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
  • Manage general ledger operations while ensuring compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
  • Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and provide reporting and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Support inventory accounting, inventory controls, and financial reporting within a manufacturing and distribution environment.
  • Oversee sales tax compliance, regulatory reporting, and preparation of audit schedules supporting internal and external audits.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and financial planning initiatives.
  • Evaluate complex accounting transactions and determine appropriate GAAP treatment while supporting private equity reporting requirements.
  • Drive process improvements, strengthen accounting controls, and support future acquisitions and business integrations.

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 6 to 8 years of progressive accounting experience with increasing responsibility in corporate accounting, public accounting, or a combination of both.
  • Experience managing the full month end close process, including financial statement preparation and general ledger management.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, account reconciliations, accruals, and internal controls.
  • Public accounting experience with transition into private industry preferred.
  • CPA certification is a plus.
  • Manufacturing and distribution industry experience preferred, including inventory accounting and cost accounting exposure.
  • Experience supporting multi entity organizations, acquisitions, consolidations, or private equity environments is highly desirable.
  • NetSuite experience is strongly preferred along with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently, influence business decisions, and build relationships across the organization.
