SummaryDevelops and implements accounting policies and operations of accounting systems, budgeting, and financial report preparation. - Serves as primary decision maker and is accountable for accounting function as it relates to meeting objectives/deadlines; managing the monthly, quarterly and/or year-end processes for the business unit and complying with internal control requirements. directs the preparation of accounting entries and the reconciliation of accounts. Uses professional accounting concepts and internal company policies to solve complex accounting issues.
- Oversees execution of financial reporting processes and prepares management financial reporting packages and executive summary schedules for supported areas.
- Manages and coordinates the audit and review process with auditors, including the preparation of financial statements and applicable supporting audit/review schedules.
- Directs and motivates staff on workflow and professional development. Develops the accounting team to ensure they have suitable experience, training and accounting/finance specific qualification to carry out their role and support career progression within the organization.
- Collaborates with other management or business areas to address projects, develop policies, procedures and controls, and align resources to meet department needs. Addresses issues or processes impacting the general ledger and provides guidance on treatment of transactions.
- Ensures that accounting policies including routine accounting, charts of accounts descriptions, and corporate allocations are up to date and available to all personnel responsible for adherence to such policies. evaluates, analyzes and documents impact of transactions entered into, or contemplated, by the company. Coordinates and facilitates the process of documenting accounting policies and procedures.
- Assists in the integration of new business units (acquisitions and start-ups) into centralized transaction processing and financial reporting.
To Qualify For This Position, You'll Need The Following:
Required Education: - Bachelor's in a job-related field with 24 semester hours in Accounting. (Anyone hired prior to August 1, 2008 in an accounting position only requires 21 semester hours of Accounting.)
Required Work Experience: - 10+ years of accounting experience including either 3 years of supervisory/management experience OR 3 years of equivalent military experience in grade E4 or above.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills. in-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong project management, organizational, decision-making, and flexibility skills. Highly effective leadership skills.
Required Software and Tools: We Prefer That You Have The Following:
- Experience managing complex IT Cost Accounting and Reporting including invoicing customers and IT Chargeback.
- Extensive knowledge of CAS/FAR and establishing Cost Accounting Practices.
- Extensive bid and proposal experience.
- Experience preparing financial statements.
- CPA and/or MBA.
