Currently, we are seeking a qualified
Accountant to work collaboratively with our sawmill in
Shasta Lake, California .
About the Position - Accounting for the division, including financial statement preparations and financial statement analysis, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and other analysis as needed
- Oversee inventory cost accounting (logs & lumber) at all stages of production from purchasing raw materials to shipments of finished product, including monthly and year-end inventory counts
- Manage fixed asset accounting and reconcile fixed asset accounts
- Monthly and year-end close for the division, including preparation of all audit and tax schedules
- Hire, train, mentor, and manage office staff
- Ensure that appropriate internal control measures are followed
- Provide financial analysis as needed for special projects
- Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines
- Recognize when and how to be assertive when improvement opportunities arise
- Work as a team member with company accounting staff and management
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or significantly related field
- 2 years' progressive work experience in accounting
- CPA a plus
- Preference given for experience in manufacturing environments, with a focus on inventory/cost accounting
- Significant experience with general ledger functions
- Prior experience with Project Cost Accounting preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products with significant experience creating and using Excel spreadsheets
- Strong analytical skills and ability to resolve problems
- Proven leadership and communication skills
- Professional demeanor, with ability to work in a team environment
- Understand appropriate discretion with confidential Company information
