Responsibilities

  • Prepare statutory statement schedules for quarterly and annual periods in line with accounting principles.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of reported data in statutory schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements by conducting necessary research.
  • Handle ad hoc journal entries as required.
  • Perform technical balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  • Prepare analysis for audits, reconciling GAAP to statutory balances and explaining variances.
  • Research and communicate findings on management requests clearly and promptly.
  • Conduct financial analyses, suggesting corrective actions, and coordinating adjustments with responsible parties.
  • Liaise with various corporate functions, ensuring smooth cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and automation.
  • Assist in coordinating the quarterly close processes with team members.
  • Maintain and enhance internal accounting controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Foster a mindset of continuous improvement across reporting processes.

Full Job Description
Responsibilities
  • Prepare quarterly and annual P&C statutory statement schedules in accordance with statutory accounting principles, including coordinating with data providers and consolidating responses.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data reported in statutory schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with NAIC and state insurance department regulatory reporting requirements, including researching requirements as needed.
  • Prepare ad hoc journal entries as needed.
  • Prepare technical balance sheet reconciliations; investigate and resolve differences in collaboration with the team.
  • Prepare support and analysis for internal and external audit requests, including GAAP-to-statutory balance reconciliations and explanations for variances.
  • Research management requests and communicate findings clearly and timely.
  • Perform financial analyses, identify required corrective actions, and coordinate with responsible parties to record appropriate ledger and statement adjustments.
  • Serve as a liaison with Corporate functions, including Controllers, GAAP Reporting, Management Reporting, Investments, Regulatory Reporting, Tax, Treasury, and FP&A.
  • Evaluate and implement process improvements that support efficiency and automation, partnering with operational teams to develop practical solutions.
  • Partner with team members to coordinate quarterly close processes.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve accounting internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote a continuous improvement mindset across reporting processes and team activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in financial reporting or financial analysis; insurance industry experience preferred.
  • Strong accounting knowledge, with statutory reporting experience preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with Oracle ERP preferred.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, identify issues, and recommend solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while adapting to changing deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.

The expected salary range for this role is $70,300 - $97,000 annually.
