Full Job Description
Overview

The Accountant II handles various month-end account reconciliations and assist in the month-end close for the Accounting Department. This role is point for journal entries, schedules, accruals, and allocations associated with the month-end close. The Accountant II will interact with different support departments.

Responsibilities
  • Support general accounting in the month-end close cycle; prepare expense accounts, accounts payable, accruals, intercompany accounting, inventory accounts, payroll/benefits accounts, revenue, expense and trend analysis, allocations, and PDS Foundation accounting.
  • Prepare journal entries to ensure transactions are properly and accurately recorded.
  • Analyze and interpret historical trends: monthly accruals for lab, supply, property tax and utility expenditures; perform trend analysis and review monthly profit and loss (P&L) statements.
  • Identify and reconcile balance sheet of all assigned accounts on a timely basis.
  • Research and respond to inquiries from Regional Finance team and NSC support team.
  • Assist with updating processes, procedures or standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain compliance with applicable internal controls.
  • Provide support to external auditors.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field of study from an accredited college or university.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in full cycle accounting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with a focus in Word and Excel.

Preferred
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion or similar enterprise resource planning applications.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply accounting principles, theory, and practice.
  • Knowledge and understanding of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Ability to multi-task effectively without compromising work quality.
  • Ability to work with large data set efficiently through proficient use of technology.
  • Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts: fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
