Job Description

Position Overview

The Accountant, Corporate Accounting, will be responsible for the monitoring, accounting, reporting and analysis of business activities related to intercompany, debt, and equity at Invenergy. This role will work with various groups within the Commercial Execution and Finance organizations on a continual basis for financial accounting close related inquires and ad-hoc projects. The position may also prepare various financial & tax supporting schedules.

Additionally, the Accountant, Corporate Accounting will support the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statement schedules, annual compilation of footnotes, miscellaneous financial reporting requests, and annual audits. Individual must be a self-starter, well organized, possess excellent computer skills, be able to multi-task and enjoy the challenge of taking on new and exciting opportunities.

This position is on-site at Invenergy's office in downtown Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities:

  • Record and reconcile intercompany transactions.

  • Prepare project workbooks to support balance sheet and income statement balances and activity.

  • Maintain compliance with project debt and equity agreements.

  • Prepare and review financial statements, including all monthly journal entries, to verify account balances for accuracy and reasonableness.

  • Assist with annual audit work papers and audit report preparation.

  • Completion of close procedures including accounting data reconciliation between general ledger, data warehouse, and core data sets.

  • Participate in special projects and other technical accounting matters as they arise.

  • Assist Accounting Manager and Director in developing process improvements and greater efficiency within the department.

  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited college or university

  • 2+ years of progressive experience in accounting.

  • Existing understanding and knowledge of GAAP.

  • Technologically-savvy, with very strong Microsoft Office skills and experience, particularly in Excel and Word.

  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in energy industry preferred but not required.

  • Multi-Site Organization SEC Company or Public accounting firm experience preferred.

  • Ability to adhere to monthly, quarterly and annual department driven deadlines.

  • Ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities and deadlines, with attention to detail and an ability to work both independently and in a team environment

  • Strong coordination / organization skills with attentiveness to timelines.

  • Strong interpersonal skills – able to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Responsible, dependable and possess an exceptional work ethic.

Base Pay

$72,000.00 - 95,000.00 USD Annual
Bonus: 15%

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
