As an Account Manager at 5, you will serve as a trusted partner and primary point of contact for large commercial and industrial clients. You will lead and coordinate the development, evaluation, and implementation of energy procurement and sustainability strategies, partnering with internal subject matter experts as needed.

This role requires meaningful experience supporting commercial or industrial clients in deregulated energy markets. Experience in PJM and ERCOT is especially valuable based on our client portfolio, but we welcome candidates with strong experience in other markets.

The right person enjoys building strong client relationships, navigating complex energy challenges, and keeping multiple projects moving in a fast-paced environment. You should be comfortable taking ownership, asking thoughtful questions, and translating complicated energy information into clear recommendations for clients.

What you'll be doing:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of large commercial and industrial clients.
  • Build trusted, long-term client relationships by understanding each client's business, energy needs, goals, and challenges.
  • Independently develop and present energy procurement and management strategies, bringing in internal subject matter experts when needed.
  • Advise clients on electricity and natural gas procurement, market conditions, pricing structures, contract options, risk, budgeting, and other energy-related decisions.
  • Provide market updates and strategic recommendations for clients operating across multiple deregulated energy markets.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to evaluate client needs, analyze market opportunities, prepare recommendations, and implement approved strategies.
  • Manage multiple client priorities, contract timelines, deliverables, and follow-up activities.
  • Identify and resolve client issues by engaging the right internal resources and maintaining clear communication through resolution.
  • Introduce clients to additional services and solutions that may support their energy, sustainability, financial, or operational goals.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and support client retention.
  • Ensure clients consistently receive a responsive, thoughtful, and high-quality experience.

What you'll bring:

  • At least three years of experience in the commercial energy industry, including retail electricity, natural gas procurement, energy consulting, sustainability, demand response, solar, or a related area.
  • Hands-on experience supporting commercial or industrial clients in one or more deregulated energy markets is required.
  • Experience in PJM and/or ERCOT is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience in an energy-focused Account Manager, Customer Success Manager, Client Services, Energy Consultant, or similar client-facing role.
  • Working knowledge of deregulated energy markets, procurement strategies, energy contracts, market pricing, and client decision-making.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, projects, and deadlines.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to explain complex energy information clearly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and responsive when client issues arise.
  • Experience collaborating across pricing, analytics, operations, sustainability, legal, or other internal teams.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for account growth while keeping the client's needs and goals at the center of the relationship.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High levels of ownership, curiosity, integrity, teamwork, and follow-through.
  • BA/BS degree required; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • B2B sales or business development experience is a plus.

The salary is based on experience and qualifications. In addition to the base salary, there is a quarterly team based sales bonus along with participation in the company's annual bonus plan.
