Full Job Description
Overview:

We are looking for an energetic, analytical, and creative thinker, who enjoys bringing and recommending solutions to existing Securian clients and building relationships. This is a high-profile position where you will be the face of Securian to our clients. It involves developing partnerships with distribution partners and decision-makers within Fortune 500 companies.

As an Account Executive, you will be responsible for the successful retention, growth and cross-sell of employee benefit clients. Effectiveness in distribution partner/client relationships, contract renewal negotiation, problem resolution, and solutions/consultative selling are critical to the mutual success of our clients and Securian.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Establish business relationships and an overall strategy for retention and growth with assigned clients and distribution partners by developing an understanding of their business vision, goals, and needs.
  • Utilize strategic consultation to drive client satisfaction and overall revenue growth, through in-force products and additional solutions.
  • Solutions selling and recommendations of Securian's group life and voluntary benefit products.
  • Act as the primary resource to resolve client account-level issues and utilize leadership and collaboration skills to manage client projects within Securian.
  • Be primarily responsible for the retention and revenue growth of assigned accounts.
  • Analyze plan data and industry trends to identify and recommend solutions and enhancements in plan design, products, services, technology and marketing.
  • Conduct client meetings, virtually and in person.
  • Negotiate contract renewals that support the continued profitable growth of Securian by understanding and communicating complex financial analysis and pricing recommendations.
  • Identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement; recommend changes to enhance client satisfaction and engagement.
  • Work closely with direct leader and Sales Vice Presidents to increase sales opportunities with potential clients, including attendance at finalist and distribution partner meetings.


Qualifications:
  • Strategic thinking skills to optimize business retention and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Ability to identify root problems and collaborate with internal partners to ensure operational efficiencies.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentations to varying audiences.
  • Initiative and leadership skills to make decisions and respond appropriately.
  • Strong diplomacy skills to avert obstacles in negotiations and challenging relationships.
  • Ability to travel independently. Includes pre-scheduled and short-notice meetings. Travel occurs approximately 35% of the year and schedules fluctuate depending on business needs.
  • Ability to obtain life/health license within 6 months.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three years client facing experience, preferably in a business-to-business (B2B) environment.
  • Account management and/or sales experience in a B2B environment.
  • Strong record in an academic program.

The estimated base pay range for this job is $69.5K - $129K.

Base pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. This job also includes variable incentive opportunity resulting in target total cash compensation of $99,500 - $159,000. Actual total cash compensation earned will be based on sales results. More information on base pay and sales-based incentive pay can be discussed with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
