ABOUT THIS ROLEBerlinRosen is seeking an Account Director to join our Impact Team to lead strategy and manage account teams advancing fights in areas including, but not limited to, workers' rights, racial justice and equity, economic justice, gender justice and environmental justice. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to advance change through communications campaigns and mission-driven work.
Role location: This role is based in our New York, N.Y. or Washington, D.C. office on a hybrid basis. The Impact team is in-office at least 3 days per week.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONSAs an Account Director on our Impact team, you will...
- Lead strategic conversations and advance the communications strategy for multiple high-profile client accounts to deliver results for our clients
- Develop and oversee integrated campaigns that leverage public affairs, earned media, paid media and digital tactics to reach key audiences and achieve client goals
- Directly manage and mentor staff and provide overall strategic direction and feedback for their development and client work
- Collaborate closely with the Impact management team to develop and inspire our team of strategists to be innovative and creative
Essential skills:- 6+ years of relevant experience working in political campaigns;Capitol Hill, Executive Branch agencies, major City/State government; strategic communications; media relations; advocacy; journalism; or a related field
- Is an avid consumer of news, with a strong political news sense and knowledge of the media
- Experience engaging and maintaining strong relationships with key reporters covering the top issues of the day, including topics such as politics, health, labor and economic justice, philanthropy, racial and gender equity, reproductive rights, immigrant rights, climate change and more
- Experience engaging with media for both rapid response and long-lead stories
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to multitask easily, including handling multiple assignments at once, working quickly and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment while paying close attention to details
- Has a personal commitment to and knowledge of social justice
- Understands organizing and advocacy communications, including social media campaigning; paid media campaigns; writing for the web (website copy, social media posts, articles etc.); engaging with local, state, or national politics
- Enjoys managing people and has experience in successfully motivating, leading and mentoring a diverse team to meet objectives
