Reporting to the Senior Director, Market Access Strategy, Pipeline & Policy Lead, the Director, Market Access Strategy -Access Optimization Lead, Pipeline serves as the enterprise market access leader for assigned pipeline brand(s). This role is responsible for owning the holistic, integrated US Market Access strategies and associated US GTN forecasts for GSK's pipeline products. This Director is responsible for creating and shaping the US market access strategy during the various phases of development to support access across the payer and policy landscape, identifying customer & competitive insights, and evolving the value proposition and supporting deliverables accordingly to maximize brand performance and patient access. The Director will own the development of the US MA strategies for pipeline products across multiple therapy areas in collaboration with GSK stakeholders including payer, provider, patient access, pricing and contracting, trade and distribution, and health system channels.

This role serves as the single point of contact for Global Market Access and partners with multiple global commercial, medical, and market access leaders to influence the inclusion of US market assess assumptions in global plans and forecasts and support inputs into global leadership decisions boards such as Forecast Review Committee (FRC). Success in this role requires strong strategic leadership, deep market access expertise, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across a matrixed organization.

This position is ideal for a strategic leader who can operate as a peer to brand leadership while bringing a distinct market access lens to brand strategy, pipeline and launch planning, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and influence across multi-functional stakeholders including Global and US Market Access, Commercial, Finance, Forecasting, Medical, and RWE/HO to develop and integrate robust US market access plans into global pipeline product planning and governance forums.
  • Serve as the US market access strategy lead for assigned pipeline brand(s), accountable for shaping the integrated US access strategy across payer, provider, patient support, pricing/contracting, trade/distribution, channel, distribution, and organized customer segments.
  • Develop optimized US market access strategies, forecasts, assumptions, and solutions for assigned pipeline candidates and business development targets, ensuring alignment with brand strategy and organizational launch preparedness.
  • Build and evolve the early US Market Access Roadmap and access journey, including access landscape assessment, customer segmentation, pricing and contracting assumptions, payer strategy, patient services, channel and distribution strategy, gross-to-net forecasts, market development activities, and early go-to-market planning.
  • Assess payer perspectives on unmet medical need, clinical value, value drivers, differentiation versus current and future standards of care, and potential access and reimbursement risks; develop mitigation strategies to address barriers to future access.
  • Influence clinical development and evidence generation plans by ensuring clinical, economic, and humanistic outcomes are incorporated to support optimized patient access and reimbursement.
  • Design, implement, monitor, and synthesize qualitative, quantitative, and syndicated US market research, including vendor identification, methodology selection, discussion guide/questionnaire development, results synthesis, and presentation of insights.
  • Monitor industry trends, policy developments, competitive landscape changes, and delivery and reimbursement issues that may impact pipeline assets, adjusting access strategies as needed.
  • Ensure a smooth transition of product access strategy to the in-line Access Optimization Director and relevant therapeutic area stakeholders to support successful launch execution.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in market access or a comparable area, with demonstrated expertise developing and leading US market access strategies across channels and customer segments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional strategy in a matrixed organization.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MPH, MS, PharmD) High personal accountability and integrity, with proven ability to influence strategically and secure support from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate health outcomes data, value evidence, quantitative analysis, and qualitative insights into actionable payer, market access, brand, and above-brand strategies and recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of US healthcare environmental, policy, pricing, finance, and forecasting considerations that may influence access, performance, and strategic decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of the drug development process, value evidence/outcomes generation, marketing discipline, and therapeutic area-specific market dynamics.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop compelling value propositions that support payer, provider, and organized customer engagement.
  • Experience with Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, hospital, IDN, health system, and organized customer strategy, including 340B, site-of-care dynamics, and provider channel strategy.
  • Strong ability to lead, partner with, and influence cross-functional teams across complex, matrixed, and global organizations, including influencing without authority.
  • Excellent written, verbal, executive presentation, interpersonal, and prioritization skills, with the ability to build alignment among diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage competing priorities and lead multiple strategic projects with strong initiative, planning, and execution discipline.
  • Basic understanding of corporate finance fundamentals, including gross and net sales, P&L inputs, gross margin, COGs, and working capital.
  • Experience managing agencies, third-party vendors, and strategic projects.

Job Description

Location: Philly or Durham. Must be onsite 2-3 days per week.
