The Work:The Senior SAP PM & QM Consultant is responsible for leading the design, configuration, and delivery of end-to-end Plant Maintenance and Quality Management processes within SAP S/4HANA. This role serves as a functional lead on large-scale SAP asset management and quality transformation programs, guiding clients through process harmonization, system design, and go-live readiness across maintenance execution, asset lifecycle management, and integrated quality operations - from inspection planning and control through nonconformance management and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
Plant Maintenance (PM) Process & Configuration
- Lead design and configuration of core PM processes including Functional Locations, Equipment Master, Maintenance Plans, Task Lists, Notifications, Work Orders, and Maintenance Completion
- Configure preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance scenarios including time-based, performance-based, and condition-based maintenance strategies
- Design and configure maintenance order management including planning, scheduling, execution, and settlement to cost centers or assets
- Lead integration design between PM and MM (material reservations, external service procurement), FI/CO (order settlement, asset accounting), and PP (production equipment maintenance)
- Configure SAP Asset Intelligence Network (AIN) or SAP EAM extensions where in scope
- Support linear asset management, fleet management, or refinery/plant-specific maintenance scenarios as required by client industry
- Advise on the transition from SAP ECC PM to S/4HANA Asset Management (including SAP S/4HANA for EAM)
Quality Management (QM) Process & Configuration
- Lead end-to-end implementation of SAP QM, including: Inspection Planning - inspection types, master inspection characteristics, sampling procedures, and dynamic modification rules, Inspection Lot Processing - goods receipt inspections, in-process inspections, final inspections, and source inspections, Results Recording & Usage Decision - inspection results, defect recording, and stock posting decisions, Quality Notifications - defect management, complaints (customer and vendor), corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), Stability Studies - time-based inspection scheduling for regulated industries, Certificate of Analysis (CoA) - quality certificate generation and distribution, Batch Management - batch classification, batch determination, and shelf-life management integration
- Design QM integration with MM (GR inspection triggers), PP (in-process quality gates), SD (customer complaint handling), and PM (equipment calibration)
- Advise clients on quality planning alignment with ISO 9001, GMP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, or industry-specific regulatory frameworks where applicable
Program Delivery
- Lead PM and QM workstreams through full SAP Activate lifecycle: Discover, Prepare, Explore, Realize, Deploy, Run
- Facilitate fit-to-standard workshops with Maintenance, Reliability, Quality Assurance, and Operations stakeholders
- Author and maintain key design documents: BBPs, FSDs, configuration workbooks, inspection catalogs, and test scripts
- Support data migration activities for equipment master, functional locations, maintenance plans, and inspection characteristics
- Lead SIT, UAT, and cutover planning for PM and QM scope
- Coordinate with PP, MM, and FI/CO functional teams on cross-workstream integration design and testing
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage VP Operations, Maintenance Directors, QA Managers, and Plant Managers as a trusted transformation advisor
- Translate complex SAP configuration options into operationally relevant design decisions
- Manage client sign-off on PM/QM design decisions and track open issues through resolution
- Advise on maintenance operating model changes, reliability strategy alignment, and quality management maturity improvements
Travel may be required for this role. The amount of travel will vary from 0 to 100% depending on business need and client requirements
Here's What You Need:- Minimum of 7 years of SAP functional experience, including full lifecycle S/4HANA or ECC implementation experience covering Plant Maintenance (PM) and/or Quality Management (QM)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with SAP PM: functional locations, equipment master, maintenance orders, and preventive maintenance planning
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on configuration experience in SAP QM: inspection planning, inspection lot processing, results recording, and quality notifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with PM/QM integration across MM, PP, FI/CO, and SD
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading fit-to-standard workshops and authoring functional design documents
- Prior experience working for a large Consulting/Advisory firm (Big 4, global SI, or boutique SAP consulting environment)
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (12 years) work experience (If an, Associate's Degree with 6 years of work experience)
Bonus Points if:- You have experience with SAP S/4HANA for EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) and Linear Asset Management
- You have experience with regulated industry QM requirements: GMP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, ISO 9001, or pharma/chemical compliance
- You have experience with SAP Asset Intelligence Network (AIN) or Predictive Maintenance & Service (PdMS)
- You have experience in asset-intensive industries: oil & gas, chemicals, utilities, mining, pharmaceuticals, or discrete manufacturing
- You have experience with SAP S/4HANA Asset Management or QM certification
