Full Job Description
Job Description

The Department of Diagnostic, Molecular and Interventional Radiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a fellowship-trained thoracic or cardiothoracic radiologist to join its academic lung cancer screening program.

Mount Sinai is home to the International Early Lung Cancer Action Program (I-ELCAP), one of the longest-standing and largest multicenter programs devoted to the early detection of lung cancer. The program includes centralized interpretation of low-dose CT examinations, development and implementation of screening protocols, quality assurance, education, and an extensive clinical research program involving multiple institutions in the United States and internationally.

The successful candidate will devote the majority of his or her clinical effort to lung cancer screening and longitudinal CT interpretation within the ELCAP program. Responsibilities will include interpretation of low-dose CT screening examinations, evaluation and management of pulmonary nodules, comparison with prior imaging, participation in screening quality-assurance activities, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary clinical and research teams supporting the program.

This is an academically oriented position with substantial opportunities for participation in the research activities of I-ELCAP. The program currently supports multiple clinical and translational research projects, grants and sponsored research programs, and includes a team of research fellows and investigators working in lung cancer screening, quantitative imaging, artificial intelligence, nodule assessment, and screening implementation. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing investigations, development of new research projects, scientific presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.

Responsibilities

Educational responsibilities will include teaching radiology residents and fellows, participation in conferences, and lectures related to thoracic imaging and lung cancer screening.

The position is anticipated initially to be approximately 50% effort and may be performed predominantly remotely, with appropriate participation in on-site academic, educational, and program activities. Opportunities may also be available, depending upon the candidate's background and interests, to participate in thoracic interventional procedures and/or cardiovascular imaging.

Qualifications

Applicants should have completed an ACGME-accredited Diagnostic Radiology residency and fellowship training in thoracic or cardiothoracic imaging and should be board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Radiology. Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in New York State. Substantial prior experience in lung cancer screening and longitudinal pulmonary nodule assessment is strongly preferred. Experience with quantitative CT imaging, screening program operations, quality assurance, or related clinical research is also desirable.

Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Compensation range from 480K to 545K (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)
