The Role As an
Academic Support Coach, you will support the academic and personal success of our Graduation Candidates (GCs) through data-driven planning, targeted intervention, and collaborative leadership. Your expertise will support instructional improvements, guide student support strategies, and drive the successful implementation of our Continuous Improvement Plan.
This position is temporary, full-time and grant-funded. Employment is contingent on the yearly categorical allocation from grant funds.Key Responsibilities- Continuous Improvement Planning
- Assist the Academy Director with development and implementation of the SDE Continuous Improvement Plan
- Analyze student performance data and track improvement strategies
- Prepare and maintain documentation required for plan submissions
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement in improvement efforts
Assessment & Data Management- Coordinate assessments and process results for planning and intervention
- Facilitate MTSS-aligned data meetings with instructional staff
- Monitor academic performance and assessment completion among GCs
Academic Support & Intervention- Implement and track supplemental academic programs
- Collaborate on Tier II interventions for at-risk students
- Remove learning barriers and support strategies for individual student growth
Graduation Candidate Support- Monitor progress toward graduation for all GCs
- Develop individualized academic and graduation plans
- Provide regular updates on student status and outcomes
Scheduling & Program Coordination- Support counselor in master schedule development
- Coordinate systematic and student-centered scheduling
- Manage preparation for End-of-Course (EOC) testing
College & Career Readiness- Align student progress to the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate
- Support preparation for post-secondary pathways
- Provide guidance in college and career readiness initiatives
Professional Development & Staff Support- Support capacity-building efforts and mentoring
- Participate in ADEPT evaluations and model best practices
- Contribute to staff learning aligned to GC success
Stakeholder Collaboration- Support teacher, staff, and family engagement
- Maintain effective communication across all levels of the academy
- Assist in school-wide initiatives and improvement collaboration
What We're Looking For Education: Bachelor's degree or higher preferred
Licensure: Valid Secondary South Carolina Educator Credential
(required)Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in teaching or educational leadership
Skills: Experience with academic coaching, intervention strategies, and student success planning
Passion: A genuine commitment to supporting students who have disengaged from traditional schooling and a drive to help them succeed.
Technology: Proficiency in Google Workspace, LMS, SIS, and mobile technology
Preferred Qualifications Certifications:
- SC 4.0 Certified Education Evaluator
- SC 4.0 Certified Evaluator (School Guidance Counselors)
- SC Read-to-Succeed Endorsement (K-12)
