Full Job Description
The Position

Genentech, Inc. seeks a Finance Insights and Data Analysis Partner at its South San Francisco, CA location.

Duties: Description: Within global pharmaceutical company, conduct financial analysis, use business statistics, and build cost models to support business decisions. Analyze long term trends including Return on Investment for marketing activities using analysis tools such as Plansource and Tableau. Apply forecasting methodologies and leverage quantitative insights from market research and secondary data to create and communicate forecasts to inform senior leadership and drive decisions around investments and market opportunities. Collaborate with business unit heads and operations managers to gather, investigate, analyze, and document financial performance and provide financial forecasting data. Develop budget forecast processes and build budgets for clinical trials. Develop financial activity and analytics models. Use financial and mathematical modeling, such as Make vs. Buy, adjusted Net Present Value, and WACC relative performance, for financial forecasting and to identify strategic business development, investment, and/or cost saving opportunities. Analyze historic research and development performance to benchmark business development opportunities. Use different financial statements metrics such as free cash flow, gross margin, operating profit, etc., to evaluate the financial strength of a brand or department or to construct a forecast of a company's earnings to use in valuation. Partner with the Business to prepare and analyze options in drug development investment decisions and budgetary and portfolio value impacts Assist finance departments with drug development costs management and value impact analysis and support forecasting and actual variances through the company's SAP system. Participate in the development of financial information systems to meet the needs of business units. Prepare financial reports summarizing financial performance, operational results, and financial projections related to business, regulatory, and/or industry-specific commercial activities. Run ad-hoc analyses, such as aNPV current and at pivotal trial go, value unlock and return ratio. Provide detailed financial analysis and reports used by management to make budget and investment decisions. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.

Education and experience required: Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and 3 years' experience providing financial analysis for drug development and distribution in healthcare domain.

Special Requirements: Must have experience with the following:

1. Drug development process and therapeutic modalities,

2. Analyzing resource allocation for market development programs and therapeutic modalities,

3. Using financial valuation and Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) mathematical modeling techniques for financial forecasting to assess economic value of development stage therapies, regulatory timelines, clinical trial design, and market access considerations,

4. Applying scenario analysis techniques to support drug development investment decisions,

5. Project financing for drug development programs, including cost estimation, budget tracking, and strategic financial planning, and

6. Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders across R&D, Finance, and other business stakeholders.

May telecommute up to 2 days per week.

The expected annual salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of South San Francisco, CA is $180,096 to $239,200 per year. Actual pay within the range will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
