Full Job Description
Who We Are Looking For:

Phoenix Tailings is looking for a Controls Engineer II to help design, build, and scale the automation systems that power our manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who is comfortable both programming and wiring industrial control systems. The ideal candidate has experience with Ignition SCADA, enjoys working directly with hardware, and has helped stand up large industrial systems in real operating environments. You will play a key role in commissioning new equipment and stabilizing production as we scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain PLC and SCADA systems for industrial manufacturing equipment
  • Build and configure Ignition SCADA applications including HMIs, alarms, trends, and data historians
  • Perform hands-on panel wiring, field wiring, and I/O checkout for industrial control systems
  • Support installation, commissioning, and startup of large-scale manufacturing systems
  • Integrate sensors, instrumentation, VFDs, heaters, and other industrial devices into control systems
  • Troubleshoot control and electrical issues on operating equipment and implement permanent fixes
  • Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and operations teams to ensure reliable system performance
  • Develop and maintain clear documentation including control narratives, I/O lists, and as-built drawings


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 3-6 years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering
  • Hands-on experience with Ignition
  • Experience programming PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms)
  • Comfortable performing hands-on panel and field wiring for industrial systems
  • Experience commissioning and supporting large industrial or manufacturing equipment
  • Strong understanding of industrial networks, instrumentation, and control system best practices
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, startup manufacturing environment
