THE CORE TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES - Plan units to address big ideas within disciplines;
- Plan lessons both independently and collaboratively that are organized in the context of developed units and that include individual measurable objectives;
- Teach both independently and collaboratively with other teachers-including general education, special education and ENL teachers (most teaching schedules are four 50-minute classes a day, plus one 50-minute Advisory class four days a week);
- Teach reading using targeted intervention strategies, including shared and guided reading, in small groups;
- Run a daily advisory class that includes daily student goal-setting and independent reading and a daily morning meeting;
- Implement common, school-wide behavioral and instructional practices that address room management and culture-building, student citizenship and good behavior monitoring. family outreach, reading and writing routines, questioning and discussion routines, and assessment;
- Regularly administer, collect, and analyze assessment data gathered from a variety of sources;
- Use Google Classroom and other domain-specific platforms to create and maintain updated classroom and assignment streams, distribute student work, and assess student work;
- Participate in ongoing professional learning and support colleaguesby providing regular feedback on their practices; and
- Participate in at least one of the school's committees, including but not limited to Hiring, Budget, Professional Development, Leadership, Calendar and Programming, Community Outreach, Events, and Awards.
WHO WE SEEK - We seek teachers who have strong content knowledge; who are passionate about intentionally designing and planning lessons, units, and year-long curricula; and who are committed to helping students address literacy, numeracy, and other learning challenges.
- We seek teachers who either hold New York State Certification or are enrolled in a program that has them working towards certification.
- We seek teachers who are committed to our school's values and have a desire to grow as an educator and a professional.
Annualized Salary Range: $70,000 to $120,000, commensurate with experience, education and/or certifications.
