QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in facilities management, engineering,
construction management, business administration, public administration, transportation,
emergency management, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education, training, and
progressively responsible experience may be considered; Master's Degree preferred.
• Seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management, building
operations, maintenance, transportation, public works, construction, school operations, security
systems, or a comparable complex operational environment.
• At least three (3) years of supervisory or management experience, including responsibility for
directing, scheduling, evaluating, and/or coordinating employees and operational functions.
• Demonstrated experience overseeing multiple facilities, operational programs, contractors,
vendors, and/or service providers.
• Demonstrated knowledge of building operations and maintenance, including HVAC, electrical,
plumbing, fire protection, elevators, generators, building management systems, grounds, snow
and ice operations, and related infrastructure.
• Demonstrated knowledge of or experience with transportation operations, fleet management,
dispatch, routing, contractors, or student transportation, preferably within a school or public sector environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of or experience with physical security systems, including access
control, video surveillance, visitor management, intrusion alarms, emergency notification systems,
radios, and credential/key management.
• Experience with budget management, purchasing, procurement, contracts, purchase orders,
vendor management, and monitoring expenditures.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply federal and Massachusetts laws, regulations,
contractual requirements, safety standards, and District policies applicable to facilities,
transportation, procurement, and school operations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of or experience coordinating emergency response, emergency
preparedness, severe-weather operations, safety procedures, drills, or other time-sensitive
operational situations.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal, and interpersonal
communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with school administrators, District departments,
employees, families, contractors, vendors, public officials, and police, fire, and other emergency response agencies.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive
personnel, student, security, financial, legal, and operational information.
• Demonstrated proficiency with technology and operational management systems, including work order, scheduling, reporting, security, transportation, or other applicable systems.
• Valid Massachusetts driver's license and ability to travel between District facilities and respond to
operational needs throughout the District.
• OSHA 30-Hour certification or other relevant occupational health and safety certification or
willingness to obtain this within 30 days of hire.
• Ability and willingness to work outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends,
holidays, and during weather-related or other District emergencies, as required by the position.
• Successful completion of all required background checks and employment requirements in
accordance with applicable law and Taunton Public Schools policy.
JOB GOAL:
The Manager of Operations, Facilities, Transportation & Safety provides districtwide
operational leadership and oversight of facilities, maintenance, grounds, transportation,
and school security systems. The position is responsible for ensuring that District facilities,
services, and operational systems are safe, reliable, compliant, efficient, and responsive to
the needs of students, staff, families, and the community. The Manager serves as a
principal operational support to the supervising Director and exercises delegated
authority in accordance with District policies, School Committee directives, applicable
collective bargaining agreements, and state and federal law.
