Position Summary

Reporting to the Individual Practice Manager or Supervisor, Individual Practice, the Individual Practice Advisor is responsible for processes and procedures for registrants' annual requirements (which includes APEGA's mandatory CPD Program), individual practice reviews, and reinstatements of former registrants returning to the practice of the professions.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain APEGA's Registrant Management Policies and Processes when applied to Reinstatements, Resumptions, Reconsiderations, Reactivations and RCEO Exception submissions. This includes application review, conducting compliance assurance activities, planning, developing and implementing program, policy and procedure updates and improvements.
  • Conduct individual practice reviews and provide reports with recommendations to the Practice Review Board (PRB) for final decisions.
  • Conduct non-practicing reviews and provide reports with recommendations to the Practice Review Board (PRB) for final decision.
  • Provide complete assessment reports for Registrant Management applications. This includes making recommendations on previous registrants and non-practicing registrants on their suitability to enter into practice, based on maintaining the requisite technical and professional competencies.
  • Developing, delivering, and maintaining the content of professional practice seminars and training/education materials related to the continuing professional development and practice standards related to individual professional practice.
  • Conduct research and analysis to advise the Individual Practice Manager, Director, Professional Practice and Executive Leadership of professional practice trends that require action or attention and making recommendations to address emerging issues.
  • Supporting other regulatory functions such as legislative interpretation and implementation, practice standards development, professional development, licensing, investigations, or enforcement in issues related to professional conduct and skilled practice of licensed professionals.
  • Manage APEGA's Registrant Management, CPD Program, Good Standing Policy and individual practice review plan to ensure licensed professionals' practice competently and ethically in accordance with the EGP Act, General Regulations, and APEGA practice standards and guidelines.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for APEGA on all professional practice matters related to the EGP Act or other applicable legislation, APEGA General Regulations and By-Laws, APEGA Council Policies and APEGA Practice Standards and Guidelines, to provide timely expertise, advice, training and solutions to Permit Holders, Licensed Professionals, Staff, Council, and Statutory Boards and Committees other national and provincial engineering and geoscience associations.

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in environments working with legislation, regulations or where policies or rules governing practice apply.
