Role Overview
The Investment Associate will work directly alongside an Industry Analyst in an industry-focused team responsible for evaluating investments in companies globally.
Key Responsibilities
Researching, analyzing, and performing due diligence on potential investments
Monitoring portfolio investments, competitors, and industry developments
Building and maintaining financial and valuation models
Engaging with company management teams, industry experts, and sell-side analysts
Creating investment-related presentation materials
Ideal Candidate Profile
Demonstrated interest in financial markets and value investing
Initiative and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent communication skills and desire to work in a team-oriented environment
Intellectually curious with a genuine appetite for understanding businesses and industries in depth
Comfortable engaging with senior company executives, industry experts, and sell-side analysts
Detail-oriented and conscientious, producing analysis of exceptional quality
Coachable and eager to learn, able to absorb feedback and build independent judgment over time
Qualifications
One to two years of related work experience or an undergraduate experience that demonstrates exceptional potential
B.A. or B.S. degree and an excellent academic record
Basic accounting knowledge; coursework in economics and statistics is a plus
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including experience with financial modeling
Proficiency with MS Excel and PowerPoint
Coursework or demonstrated experience in corporate finance or valuation is a plus
Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) and willingness to apply them to research workflows
Requirements:
Dodge & Cox has a 4/1 hybrid work model, and all Dodge & Cox employees are required to be in their assigned office as noted in the job posting Monday - Thursday each week, with the option to work remotely on Friday.
The listed pay scale denotes only the pay range of the base salary and does not include discretionary bonus compensation, which may make up an important portion of the total remuneration. Dodge & Cox encourages applicants to consider the value of the many competitive benefits it offers, including coverage of 100% of all healthcare premiums for employees and their families and fully funding a retirement plan at 25% of the total compensation to the IRS limit.
