Full Job Description
Our Speech & Language Pathologist will work with students, teachers, and parents to help achieve the highest degree of academic and behavioral success for our students. Our Speech & Language Pathologist will conduct pull-out and push-in therapy sessions working with students 1:1, in small groups, and in inclusive classroom environments. They will also be responsible for the evaluations of children with receptive and expressive language deficits, articulation, phonological impairments, auditory processing and pragmatic language delays in addition to completing screenings for students. This is a full-time, 10-month position. The role and skillset of a Speech & Language Pathologist includes, but is not limited to: - Possess an extensive knowledge of and enthusiasm for speech and language development - Exhibit positive rapport with students, parents and staff - Create and teach engaging and differentiated lessons driven by students' IEP goals - Conduct individual student evaluations and screenings - Write evaluation reports, IEP goals, and IEP present levels of performance - Attend scheduled IEP meetings - Monitor student progress and use this information to inform instruction - Share student progress and engage in problem solving with teachers through our intervention process - Write progress reports every trimester - Complete Access billing documentation on a monthly basis - Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and professional development - Act as a role model for students - Create and foster a positive, safe learning environment that incorporates the school's core values, high expectations and code of conduct - Continually improve skills by seeking out constructive feedback and professional development opportunities - Believe deeply in the mission and values of KIPP Philadelphia Schools and subscribe to KIPP's Five Pillars - Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to integrate speech and language goals into regular classroom instruction and practice Who You Are: - You love and see the high potential of all children - You have experience driving student growth and achievement and to create a warm, inclusive, rigorous learning environment. - You have passion for facilitating professional learning, including a desire to continuously grow and learn as a leader. - You operate with cultural competence and a commitment to inclusion, anti-racism, and the eradication of anti-Blackness. - You believe that teachers are the primary drivers of student growth, learning and achievement. - You have high expectations for students and teachers; and the ability to motivate, inspire and hold others accountable. - You are solutions-orientated and have an eagerness to adapt in order to solve problems. - You are solutions-oriented; ability and eagerness to adapt to and manage change and solve problems. - You are flexible and able to multi-task within a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment, while also driving towards clarity, simplicity and solutions. - You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - You have a deep knowledge of learning theory and math curriculum development, including current educational trends, methods, research, and technology.
