Full Job Description
We are looking for a mid-Career Data Systems Analyst (DSA)/Data Management (DM) professional proficient in performing data management/data integration functions for the Space Reactor -1 (SR-1) Freedom Mission at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). This Data Integration position will interface with existing CDM personnel, members of the SR-1 mission teams, Engineering organizations, NASA Centers, other Government Agencies and industry as required. This position will provide support to the SR-1 SE&I and structural design functions to ensure critical data and agreements are documented and controlled.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with stakeholders independently and within SAI and SE&I to define digital information structure, data access and management and Ground Rules and Assumptions (GRA) for incoming/outgoing data and models to apply an approach within SR-1 to align with disciplines for the planning, analysis, design and configuration of information and data systems.
  • Develop analytical and computational techniques and methodologies for problem solutions supporting planning and analysis efforts using both manual and automated tools.
  • Maintain, as appropriate, data/model tracking and processing throughout the evolution of initial data transfer to retirement.
  • Develop, interface with, or maintain digital web-based (SharePoint, Windchill, or equivalent) Libraries for data/model exchange and historical tracking. Support management of SAI, SE&I and SR-1 Structures teams' activities (input, action tracking, digital document review tracking) within digital web-based tools including interfacing with digital platform structure and membership/access updates.
  • Evaluate changes needed in data management processes or tools including interfaces to external tools being used by SR-1 and stakeholder teams. When requested, provides technical consultation in software engineering techniques and automated support tools. Analyzes and recommends or implements application of a wide range of digital & analytical capabilities to support engineering, business, data, and records management functions.
  • Implement updates to data management tools as needed. Specifically related to data and model exchange tool, approach development and updates, defines problems and develops system requirements and program specifications from which programmers prepare detailed flow charts, programs, and tests. Coordinates closely with programmers to ensure proper implementation of program and system specifications. Develops, in conjunction with functional users and the information technology function, recommendations on alternative system solutions.
  • Support Configuration Management group meetings (as needed), SAI/SE&I/structures team meetings and schedule strategy meetings. Provide the oversight to ensure cross-project issues/problems are worked.
  • Build and maintain digital visual representation of teams smart book for alignment of data management and exchange based on input from various sources, including MS Project, team discussions, milestone definition or other relevant input.
  • Handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), ITAR and other export control or proprietary contractor data following NASA and MSFC requirements and guidelines.

Job Specifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 11 years of applicable experience required, or 14 years' experience, if substituting work experience for education.
  • Knowledge of managing technical data in automated CDM tools is required.
  • Working knowledge of Information Technology (IT)/ automated data management tools is required.
  • Proficiency in using Center and PPA tools and databases (e.g., CMW, SharePoint, Windchill, Jira, PowerBI, ASIT schedule visualization) and ability to engage and use tools such as GitLab is desired.
  • Experience with handling sensitive data is desired.
  • Professional CDM certification such as National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) CDM certification or equivalent is desired.

Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to obtain clearance/access onsite at NASA MSFC is required (requires a STAR ID for badging).
  • US Citizenship required.
