The United States Secret Service (USSS) is a federal law enforcement agency under the Department of Homeland Security charged with conducting criminal investigations and protecting the nation's leaders and their families. The USSS was established in 1865 and has since expanded its role to include the investigation of financial crimes, cyber crimes, and the protection of critical infrastructure. The agency is headquartered in Washington, D.C. and has more than 150 offices throughout the United States and abroad.
