The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) is a non-profit biomedical research organization that focuses on basic and applied research in the areas of biology, chemistry, and medicine. The institute was founded in 1924 by philanthropist Ellen Browning Scripps and is headquartered in La Jolla, California, with additional campuses in Jupiter, Florida and San Diego, California. TSRI employs over 3,000 scientists, technicians, and administrative staff, and has partnerships with numerous academic and industry organizations. The institute's research has led to the development of new drugs and therapies for a variety of diseases, including cancer, Alzheimer's, and HIV/AIDS.
