Lucent Technologies was a telecommunications equipment company that was founded in 1996 as a spin-off of AT&T. The company was headquartered in Murray Hill, New Jersey, and had operations in more than 100 countries. Lucent Technologies' products included telephone systems, network equipment, and software. The company was a major player in the telecommunications industry during the late 1990s and early 2000s. In 2006, Lucent Technologies merged with Alcatel to form Alcatel-Lucent.
