Environmental engineers create and design solutions for environmental problems. Safe drinking water, good air quality, disposal of hazardous substances, treatment of waste and more are brought about by professionals in the environmental engineering field. Because of the broad scope and nature of issues, many disciplines and areas of expertise exist, including chemistry, mathematics, ecology, geology and many more. Computer analysis and modeling are used for effective evaluation and design of systems. Qualifications include a 4-year bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in environmental engineering and state license.
