Careers in Civil Engineering

Civil Engineers design, construct and maintain infrastructure projects and systems. These include buildings, airports, tunnels, roads, bridges, dams and water supply and sewage treatment systems. Responsibilities include the analysis of maps/survey reports and the results of foundation tests; assessment of construction costs, hazards and regulations; use of design software for planning and design of systems and structures; overseeing surveying operations and managing repair and maintenance. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, civil engineering technology and/or a specialist area.
