Careers in Architecture

Architects classically design new buildings and help restore or repurpose old buildings. However, many levels of the discipline exist, including interior, residential and industrial architects. Preparing and presenting design proposals, and dealing with contractors or clients are important elements of the job. Apart from a keen eye for detail and great drawing skills, architects today need to be able to work with 3-D technology to create effective models. Qualifications include Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch), or, if related bachelor’s degrees have been obtained, a Master of Architecture (M.Arch.)
