This position works in the South Central organizational unit. This is recreational work in coordinating the operations of a small, special purpose recreation centre and in developing and implementing recreational programs and services to meet the needs and requirements of youth. The Youth Centre Supervisor hires, trains and supervises Centre staff, works with an advisory Council on the development of programs and services, establishes and maintains effective community liaison and public relations and participates in establishing and maintaining Centre operating methods and procedures. Prepares preliminary budgets and monitors revenue and expenditures. Promotes and maintains effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts, publicizes and promotes Centre programs and services. Within limits of established objectives and policies, the Centre Supervisor exercises considerable independence of action, judgment and initiative. Work performance is reviewed and evaluated by a supervisor in terms of the provision of effective operation of a small special purpose recreation centre and of programs and services related thereto. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include the completion of a two year community college program in recreation or related discipline, plus sound related community recreation experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the rules, regulations, policies and requirements governing the operations of the Centre; of the requirements and needs of youth which are serviced by the Centre. Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate the operations, programs and services of a small special purpose recreational centre under minimal supervision; hire, train and motivate staff, and plan, assign and supervise the work of such staff; establish and maintain effective working relationships with groups, associations and the public, and to provide lay counselling and referral services to youth; prepare budgets, requisitions, reports, records and correspondence. A valid Driver's Licence for the Province of British Columbia and a St. John's First Aid Certificate or equivalent are required. Schedule: 70 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Tuesday from 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Wednesday from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Thursday from 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Friday from 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM (Mutual Agreement between Monday to Sunday, 9:00 AM - 12:00 AM)

This is a Temporary Full Time position until January 1, 2027.
