Responsibilities

  • Review accident reports for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with TPAs, insurance carriers, legal counsel, and medical providers.
  • Collaborate with Legal on litigation strategy and claims-related matters.
  • Direct Modified Duty and Return-to-Work programs across all facilities.
  • Monitor claim reserves, settlement recommendations, and TPA performance.
  • Conduct quarterly claims reviews and present executive reporting.
  • Develop policies and procedures related to Workers' Compensation.

Reports To: Legal Department (Primary) and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO)
Location: Corporate Headquarters (HQ)
FLSA Status: Exempt

SUMMARY

The Workers' Compensation Supervisor provides strategic leadership, oversight, and administration of KPC Healthcare's Workers' Compensation Program across all KPC facilities. Reporting primarily to the Legal Department and secondarily to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), this position is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, minimizing organizational risk, overseeing claims administration, directing return-to-work initiatives, and providing enterprise-wide leadership for workers' compensation operations.

REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Risk Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field required. or equivalent of 7+ years of experience.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible Workers' Compensation experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience required.
  • Healthcare experience strongly preferred.
  • California Workers' Compensation experience required.
  • WCCA, WCCP, ARM, CPCU, or similar certification preferred.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of California Workers' Compensation laws.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, ADA, FEHA, FMLA, CFRA, and return-to-work requirements.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare executive reports and build collaborative relationships.


Physical Requirements

Ability to travel between KPC facilities as needed. Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.

Working Conditions

This position is based at KPC Corporate Headquarters and supports all KPC Healthcare facilities. Periodic travel to hospitals and other company locations is required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the corporate Workers' Compensation program for all KPC facilities.
  • Provide leadership and direction to Workers' Compensation staff and departmental workflow.
  • Oversee occupational injury and illness claims from injury through closure.
  • Review accident reports for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with TPAs, insurance carriers, legal counsel, medical providers, and investigators.
  • Partner with Legal on litigation strategy, hearings, settlements, subpoenas, and depositions.
  • Direct Modified Duty and Return-to-Work programs across all facilities.
  • Collaborate with HR, Employee Health, Safety, and operational leadership to ensure compliance with ADA, FEHA, FMLA, CFRA, and applicable laws.
  • Monitor claim reserves, settlement recommendations, and TPA performance.
  • Conduct quarterly claims reviews and present executive reporting.
  • Develop policies, procedures, injury prevention initiatives, and executive dashboards.
  • Participate in regulatory audits and maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Leadership Responsibilities

  • Supervise Workers' Compensation staff and departmental operations.
  • Establish departmental goals and performance standards.
  • Coach, mentor, and evaluate staff.
  • Lead continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Build collaborative relationships across all KPC facilities.
