I. Job Summary

Directs all aspects of a service area within an assigned vertical line of business "LOB." Most often the assigned area covers operating units spread nationally. The Territory Manager within Sustainability Services provides a comprehensive range of innovative and cost-effective environmental solutions to their assigned clients/operating units. The Territory Manager is responsible for the management of their operating units' profit and loss, budgeting, day-to-day operations, ISO programs and service execution; oversight and direct management of personnel, third-party sourcing, pricing and business development. The Territory Manager's primary objectives are to supervise and coordinate employee work and development activities within the respective sites, develop bids and quotes for new projects, implementation of identified projects, accurately analyze and report financials, collect customer payment and ensure customer satisfaction. May be responsible for approximately $5 to $20 million in revenue with a stretch goal of anticipated, expected growth within the assigned operating units/client sites.

Travel of 50-75% of the time is expected within the Central & Eastern part of the United States

While this position is remote, the applicant must reside in the Central or Eastern time zone.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the development and maintenance of a safety conscious organization within all assigned customer sites. Oversees Project Manager's development of a safe work environment that complies with all customer/site regulatory requirements related to health, safety and the environment including operating team's safety training related to performance of duties.
  • Responsible for the successful management of customer service issues and assisting in identifying potential contract/service enhancements through regular interaction with customers, operating team and vendors. Works with the Vertical Manager on the renegotiation of contracts, services and projects with existing clients and vendors. Prepares related quotes and proposals.
  • May be responsible for preparing quotes and proposals related to the purchase of entities that extend the service options for Sustainability Services customers.
  • Manages the financial and operating performance of assigned customer sites to ensure profitability and operational goals are achieved. Responsible for profit/loss, receivables, pricing, invoicing, budgeting and related accounting activities for customers and all related reporting. Analyzes current and projected financial position of assigned operating units.
  • Responsible for the procedural development, implementation and employee adherence to environmental health and safety and ISO program activities and compliance.
  • Accountable for the education and development of the Project Managers and operating team. Ensures personnel training has been completed and properly documented and all applicable WM policies, procedures and programs are implemented as required including any required certifications and training.
  • Documents best practices and lessons learned and implements at customer locations
  • Directs the development and implementation of facility waste management plans. Identifies and implements minimization and recycling opportunities, develops waste collection programs and management of storage areas.
  • Ensures the proper application of regulations in completing waste profiles to provide guidance on waste characterization and analysis in order to properly complete container labels and all waste shipment documentation.
  • Manages the programs and people who work to reduce waste volumes, increase operational efficiencies, identifies optimal equipment usage and generates an overall cost savings for customers.
  • Ensures the local management team at a customer site conducts routine safety meetings and regular safety/regulatory inspections.
  • Participates in quarterly and annual business reviews with clients.
  • Establishes relationships and oversees management team working closely with local WM Market Areas and Districts (hauling divisions and landfills) to ensure core services are properly maintained and excellent customer service.
  • May occasionally be required to perform labor-intensive activities (e.g., drum collection and bulking).

A. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Environmental Sciences, Accounting, Business or related field, or in lieu of degree
  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • 7 years of relevant work experience in project/business work within the environmental or industrial services industry (in addition to education requirement).
  • RCRA and DOT regulatory compliance experience required Upon Hire and
  • OSHA 24-Hour HAZWOPER Certification required Upon Hire
  • Valid Drivers License

Pay: The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $96,700 - $120,00. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. Additionally this role is eligible for 25% bonus.
