Job Title: Wet Chemistry Supervisor
Operating Group: North America - Labs
Division/Cluster: Industry & Facilities (I&F)
Job Summary:
The incumbent will work independently and/or as part of a team to provide operational support to the laboratory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Job requirements may include, but are not limited to:
• Managing the day-to-day operation of the department
• Responsibility and authority for ensuring that the quality system of the laboratory is implemented and followed at all times
• Ensuring overall high quality analytical data is produced by the department
• Recommending capital equipment and preparing justifications
• Performing routine and complex sample preparation and analysis for the analytical department
• Able to discuss technical matters about their techniques with clients
• Drive continuing process improvement
• Working independently and problem solving any issues that may come up in the department
• Internal systems/processes
• Advanced instrument/analytical problem solving
• Answering questions that may arise from the client service team
Supervisory Responsibilities
• Authority over staff, which includes recommending hiring and firing
• Providing technical guidance to laboratory personnel
• Consulting in upper-level decisions within the department
• Training new employees
Skills

• Comprehensive computer skills - Internet, MS Office
• Able to operate lab instruments including relevant software and computer programs, including the laboratories LIMS system
• Quality and quantity of work meets laboratory benchmarks
• Follows safety requirements including the appropriate use of safety glasses, gloves, lab coats
• IDC sample requirements are met
• Company procedures and policies adhered to
• Turnaround times achieved

Education, Certifications, and Experience (required)
• Bachelor's degree in science or related field
• 10+ years of experience directly related to industrial hygiene techniques
• Ability to interact with clients and all levels of staff
• Leadership experience desired
• Detail oriented, self-starter, strong written and verbal skills
• Capable of making sound decisions quickly and effectively

• Regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel small and large scientific equipment.
