Summary

The Vehicle Mechanical & Technical Services Supervisor is a hands-on leadership role responsible for diagnosing and repairing complex vehicle issues while directing a small team of apprentice technicians. This position serves as the team's technical expert for electrical systems, drivetrains, engines, electric vehicles, high-voltage batteries, and manufacturer quality campaigns.The supervisor will assign daily work, provide technical guidance, monitor productivity and quality, and ensure repairs are completed safely, accurately, and within established timelines.

Responsibilities

-Manage daily body shop, paint, and mechanical repair operations.
-Lead and direct body shop and mechanical technicians to ensure daily production, quality, and safety objectives are achieved.
-Oversee the complete repair process from initial damage assessment through repair, inspection, and final release.
-Ensure damaged vehicles are restored to new-vehicle condition in accordance with customer and OEM standards.
-Develop daily production plans based on repair volume, vehicle aging, technician capacity, parts availability, and operational priorities.
- Assign work according to technician qualifications, repair complexity, equipment availability, and required completion dates.
-Maintain efficient vehicle flow through estimating, parts ordering, body repair, paint, mechanical repair, reassembly, quality inspection, and release.
-Monitor work-in-process inventory and remove constraints that delay repair completion.
-Prioritize aging vehicles and implement recovery plans to reduce overall vehicle dwell.
-Track the status, aging, repair requirements, parts availability, and next action for every vehicle within the repair process.
-Establish quality-control checkpoints and ensure all completed repairs meet applicable workmanship and appearance standards.
-Monitor technician productivity, repair-cycle time, first-time quality, rework, and schedule attainment.
-Ensure a safe working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
-Enforce all applicable company, customer, government, environmental, and workplace safety policies and procedures.
-Ensure proper handling, storage, labeling, documentation, and disposal of paint materials, solvents, batteries, fluids, damaged components, and regulated waste.
-Provide regular updates to management regarding repair volume, aging, productivity, constraints, and recovery actions.

Compensation

$80,000 - $85,000 salary per year. (Subject to Compensation Study )

Skills
  • Knowledge of automotive body repair, collision repair, paint and refinishing, mechanical repair, and vehicle-quality standards.
  • Knowledge of OEM repair procedures, technical instructions, repair documentation, and new-vehicle condition requirements
  • Knowledge of body shop and mechanical repair workflows, including estimating, parts ordering, repair, paint, reassembly, inspection, and release.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety, environmental compliance, hazardous-material handling, and regulated-waste requirements.
  • Knowledge of production planning, work-in-process management, labor utilization, and repair-cycle-time reduction.
  • Understanding of warranty processes, labor-time standards, repair estimates, causal information, and supporting documentation.
  • Familiarity with shop tools, vehicle lifts, diagnostic equipment, paint operations, and personal protective equipment.

Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. Required
  • Must hold a valid State Issued Driver's License Required
  • 9 year of Body shop, vehicle processing, automotive technician

Physical Requirements
  • Constant use of hands for repetitive grasping, manipulation, holding scanner, typing on computer
  • Will be operating heavy machinery such as manual pallet jack
  • Will be operating desk machines such as computer, copier, scanner, printer
  • Lift and carry up to 25 lbs. occasionally
  • Stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach over shoulder, pull, push 5+ hours per day
  • Drive, climb, kneel, squat 1-3 hours per day
  • Crouch 3-5 hours per day

This position works in a plant manufacturing/warehouse setting.
