Full Job Description
$2,000 sign-on bonus for all new production hires!

Hours: 6:30am-3pm Monday through Friday, hours can be flexible

Pay: $28-34/hr depending on experience

The focus of this position is to improve weld quality by developing standardized welding procedures and training welders to meet department quality requirements. The Weld Specialist applies expertise in metallurgy, welding techniques, inspection, and weld testing to refine welding processes that increase efficiency, quality, and production output. Working closely with the Weld Supervisor and Engineering support, this role is responsible for creating and maintaining weld standards, conducting weld tests, and developing both inspection and welder-training programs.

Position Responsibilities:
  • In collaboration with Weld Management and Engineering, perform testing for WPS, PQR, and Welder qualifications, as well as record and maintain records of welder qualification according to company standards
  • Train welders on proper MIG and robotic MIG welding techniques, ensuring consistent understanding of procedures and quality expectations.
  • Troubleshoot welding issues on the floor by diagnosing defects, adjusting parameters, and guiding operators toward proper corrective actions.
  • Works with Tooling designers and Manufacturing Engineer, for approving jigs and fixtures
  • Develop weld settings for new weldments and verify their effectiveness through appropriate nondestructive testing methods.
  • Verify weld documentation by reviewing weld prints, specifications, and requirements for accuracy, and clarity.
  • Work with the weld supervisor to ensure the use of proper equipment, WPS's, and instructions.
  • Coach team members on weld symbols, print reading, and process fundamentals to strengthen technical competency across the department.
  • Support quality and continuous-improvement efforts by advocating for meaningful changes and helping the team implement them when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with engineering to provide feedback on weld design, manufacturability, and fixture needs during product development.
  • Champion safety practices by reinforcing proper PPE use, safe welding techniques, and hazard awareness during all training and production activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5+ years in a manufacturing environment that included welding - Robotic and Hand welding.
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of welding, joining, and cutting processes and equipment.
  • Knowledge of welding metallurgy (strength, ductility, corrosion resistance, fatigue life).
  • Must have the ability to inspect products for missing welds, poor welds and incorrect welds per drawings and or patterns.
  • Strong knowledge of welding symbols and drawings.
  • Must be able to write, read and understand welding instructions and procedures.
  • Must be able to analyze weld failures and determine a root cause, material, weld settings, weld positioning or other.
  • Working knowledge of all MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Actively seeks out opportunities to enhance processes and implements practical, well-reasoned solutions.
  • Able to adjust to varying schedules, evolving responsibilities, and additional hours when required.
  • Safety conscious individual.
  • Ability to lift at least 40 lbs. regularly and bend, squat, walk or stand for extended periods of time

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certificate from technical school preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, or familiarity with, AWS welding codes and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard CAD platforms for technical drawing and visualization.
  • Knowledge of welding procedure and performance qualification testing
  • Knowledge of nondestructive testing (NDT) methods
  • Proven experience delivering hands-on training and guiding learners through skill development.

  • Competitive Salary - A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $90,000 - $113,000. Salary will be determined by experience and qualifications. You may be eligible to participate in an incentive program, which rewards employees based on individual and organizational performance. Eligibility and award amounts are determined by company policy and performance metrics.
