Consor Engineers is seeking a Water/Wastewater Treatment Engineer (PE) to join our growing team in Phoenix, AZ. This role is ideal for a licensed professional engineer with strong treatment process experience who is ready to take on meaningful technical responsibility, lead project delivery, and contribute to a collaborative, people‑focused culture. About the Role

As a Water/Wastewater Treatment Engineer at Consor, you will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater treatment facilities for municipal clients. You will evaluate treatment system needs, develop process‑driven engineering solutions, and prepare high‑quality technical deliverables including reports, design documents, and technical analyses. This position offers opportunities for technical leadership, client engagement, and mentorship within a supportive and growth‑oriented environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and support the planning, design, and evaluation of water and wastewater treatment facilities, including process selection and system optimization.
  • Develop and review engineering design packages, including process flow diagrams, plans, specifications, and technical memoranda.
  • Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, master plans, and permitting documentation.
  • Perform process calculations and evaluations for treatment systems such as filtration, disinfection, biological treatment, solids handling, and odor control.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, electrical, mechanical, and structural) to deliver integrated treatment solutions.
  • Support project pursuits, including proposal development and participation in client interviews.
  • Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and quality assurance throughout project delivery.

What You'll Need:

  • 4+ years of progressive experience in water and/or wastewater treatment engineering.
  • Familiarity with treatment process modeling, permitting, and regulatory coordination.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications (not required)

  • Master’ degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Experience with treatment process modeling, facility upgrades, and regulatory permitting.
  • Familiarity with state and federal water/wastewater regulations.
  • Proficiency with hydraulic and treatment design software.
  • Experience coordinating with clients, regulators, and internal teams.
  • Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative environment.

 

This hybrid position fluctuates between an office environment and a field environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, and copy machines.  This job will require occasional exposure to work environments that may include inclement weather, heat, humidity, noise, construction hazards, atmospheric conditions, and bodies of water, depending on project requirements.While performing the duties of this job, physical demands of the employee include frequent sitting, walking, standing, talking, hearing, and occasional balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling. This job will require operating a company vehicle, and may include lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 lbs.
