Position Description
Water/Wastewater Process Project Engineer - Denver, CO, Dillon, CO, or Grand Junction, COAE2S is seeking a Water and/or Wastewater Process Project Engineer to support planning, design, and delivery of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex treatment challenges, collaborating across disciplines (civil, electrical, mechanical, I&C, structural), and supporting clients through design and construction. This role blends technical design with client coordination and is a great fit for an engineer who wants to grow into task management and project leadership.
Responsibilities- Support or lead process design for water and/or wastewater treatment facilities (new facilities and upgrades).
- Develop Basis of Design content, technical memos, alternatives evaluations, hydraulic and process calculations.
- Prepare and review PFDs, P&IDs, equipment sizing and selection criteria, and process control narratives (as applicable).
- Coordinate with multi-discipline project teams to integrate process needs into civil/site, mechanical, structural, electrical, and controls design.
- Support project delivery milestones (e.g., 30/60/90% design), internal QA/QC, and constructability reviews.
- Assist with specifications and technical requirements (equipment, instrumentation, performance criteria).
- Participate in client meetings, workshops, and coordination with regulators/owners.
- Provide construction-phase support: submittal/RFI review, commissioning support, field observations, and startup assistance (as needed).
- Support project management activities appropriate to level (scope, schedule, budget, risk, and change management).
- Develops working relationships with individuals outside the organization to assist in identifying new business opportunities and strategic pursuits.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
- Registration as a Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 6 months
- 5+ years of experience in environmental engineering and consulting industry, specifically in the wastewater treatment sector, with progressive responsibilities including marketing and business development.
- Demonstrated technical capabilities in the planning and design of wastewater facilities.
- Project management experience with projects involving multiple technical disciplines.
- Strong writing skills (technical, marketing and business communications).

Physical- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
- Ability to walk up to 3-miles on uneven terrain
- Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
- Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight
- May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds
- Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
- May be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to, flame resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear
- May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload
- May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town
