Stantec, a leading global engineering and design firm, is currently seeking a Water Reuse Engineer to join our team in the Southwest. As a Water Reuse Engineer, your main objective will be to support the delivery of water reuse projects in the Southwest U.S., with the potential to work on projects across North America and internationally. To be successful in this role, you will need to be self-motivated, capable of collaborating with complex teams, and dedicated to advancing the field of water reuse. Projects assigned to you may be complex and require the application of technical knowledge and expertise. They may also be diverse in scope, providing you with a range of opportunities to contribute to advancing the Water Reuse practice. The role also supports the pursuit of water reuse projects through technical sales and the development of technical solutions.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Design alternative water source, advanced water purification, and related water and wastewater projects as a project engineer, including pilot studies; engineering calculations, drawings, and reports; client presentations and required applications to regulatory and/or funding agencies.
  • Participate in development of water reuse solutions with clients. This includes, but may not be limited to: face-to-face client interactions, site visits, technical training for client staff, workshop presentations on treatment technology, planning, regulatory frameworks, etc.
  • Coordinate with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
  • Prepare and coordinate pilot studies, engineering studies, design reports, and project specifications with construction documents.
  • Engage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Collaborate with project managers and senior engineers to develop and manage the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own products and facilitate independent technical review of these projects.
  • Support the permitting process of projects, which may require meeting with clients, contractors, interested stakeholder parties, and reviewing agency personnel.
  • Assist in the development and updates of project design standards and guidelines; prepares abstracts and technical papers.
  • Participate in strategic planning for the water reuse practice.


Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team settings and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • General understanding of all phases of project document production, client procurement procedures, and regulatory approval processes.
  • Understanding of local and regional jurisdictional codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions with specific emphasis on water reuse regulations.
  • Understanding of aquatic chemistry and water quality issues relevant to municipal and industrial water reuse.
  • Effective communicator and able to deliver technical presentations in public forums in conferences and technical symposia.
  • Ability to evaluate and design advanced water treatment processes.
  • Ability to perform hydraulic calculations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, Bluebeam, and Adobe.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.

About the Team

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
