Full Job Description
HDR has an outstanding career opportunity for an experienced water industry professional to serve in a leadership position as our Western Canada Water Business Group Manager (BGM). In this role, you will have the opportunity to expand and grow our strong water business in the regional marketplace. As part of our world-class organization and in collaboration with our outstanding technical and business professionals, you will help shape our future strategic and geographic development. In the role of Water Business Group Manager, Western Canada, we'll count on you to:

  • Partner with Canada's Managing Director and Water Business Group Directors to develop, implement and maintain effective area business group programs
  • Monitor area business group performance indicators and implement actions and process improvements as needed.
  • Facilitate Area teamwork, communication and work-sharing between offices, business classes, management, and staff to maximize client satisfaction, company growth and profitability.
  • Build area business group capabilities through recruitment, mentoring, staff development and training.
  • Prepare annual revenue forecasts and budgets and monitor performance of area business group services. Lead area business group strategic plan implementation. Coordinate activities with company, regional and local managers
  • Facilitate project management reviews and project quality control reviews in cooperation with the professional services lead and the business class leads.
  • Support development of strong client relationships and selectively serve as a key client manager
  • Partner with Business Development and Market Sector leads to develop and implement strategies, new business prospects, technical services, quality, and production methods and standards, all within established goals and objectives of the business group, region and company
  • Monitor implementation of company policies and procedures, standards, quality assurance and risk management within business group and area.
  • Participate in development and implementation of company vision and direction as member of the area team and business group.
  • Participate in business and community activities as a representative of HDR.
  • Perform other duties as needed


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in engineering consulting in Canada
  • Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience
  • Degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
  • Business development experience in Canada
