Title:
Watch Operator - Senior

This is a contingent position based upon contract award

KBR is seeking a Senior Watch Operator that will serve as a key leader in managing real-time monitoring and incident response for mission-critical systems in a 24/7 operational environment.

This role provides expert-level oversight, ensures operational continuity, and drives strategic improvements to watch floor processes. The specialist will lead complex incident resolution efforts, deliver executive-level situational awareness, and mentor junior and intermediate team members. Strong leadership, decision-making under pressure, and deep technical expertise are essential for success.

This position offers the opportunity to shape operational strategy and enhance resilience across enterprise systems. This role is performed full-time on site at a government facility and is contingent upon contract award.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversee real-time monitoring and operational support for mission-critical systems across multiple platforms.
  • Lead and coordinate resolution of high-impact incidents, ensuring timely escalation and communication to senior leadership.
  • Provide expert analysis of operational trends and recommend improvements to enhance system reliability and security.
  • Develop and maintain advanced standard operating procedures and incident response playbooks.
  • Deliver executive-level situational awareness reports and briefings during operational events.
  • Mentor and guide junior and intermediate watch specialists, fostering technical growth and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement proactive measures for risk mitigation and continuity planning.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements in all operational activities.
  • Operate within a 24/7 shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.


Required Qualifications:
  • Education & Experience: Master's degree and 11 years of relevant experience with demonstrated expertise; OR Bachelor's degree and 12 years of relevant experience with demonstrated expertise; OR No degree and 14 years of relevant experience with demonstrated expertise.
  • Extensive experience with operational monitoring tools, dashboards, and incident management systems.
  • Proven track record of managing and resolving complex, high-impact operational incidents.
  • In-depth knowledge of incident response frameworks and escalation procedures.
  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with adjudicated polygraph


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience leading operations within a Network Operations Center (NOC), Security Operations Center (SOC), or similar mission-critical environment.
  • Advanced understanding of IT infrastructure components (servers, networks, cloud services) and their interdependencies.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity risk management and compliance frameworks in operational settings.
