Job DescriptionThe Wastewater System Superintendent manages the daily operations, maintenance, and personnel of the wastewater treatment plant and collection systems at CMI's customer site in Beltsville, MD.
Key Job Functions- Directs the daily operations of the treatment plant, pumping stations, and sewer lines.
- Reviews treatment processes and makes adjustments to maximize efficiency.
- Ensures plant effluent meets Federal (EPA) and State Departments of Environmental Quality standards (e.g., NPDES permits).
- Prepares and submits discharge monitoring reports.
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates plant operators and maintenance technicians.
- Coordinates work schedules and handles hiring or disciplinary actions.
- Works with key stakeholders and contractors to plan, review, and manage plant upgrades or infrastructure construction
- Perform other management related duties as required
Qualifications- High School diploma; Bachelors degree preferred
- Must have at least 5 years experience as a W5 licensed superintendent in the State of Maryland and at least 3 years of experience of management and oversight of wastewater treatment plants with advanced treatment systems
- Must have a thorough knowledge of MDE Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs) and have experience preparing and submitting such reports in MD for the last 3 years
- Must be licensed as Maryland (MD) Wastewater Treatment (W5) Activated Sludge with Class (WA) Advanced Wastewater Treatment
- License must be at least Class W5 Wastewater Treatment Superintendent. WA Wastewater Treatment Superintendent License is highly recommended and valued
- Must have thorough experience of the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) wastewater systems operations, maintenance, and reporting requirements
- Must submit license(s) with resume
- Must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Must be able to pass a government background check
