Description
The Market Leader owns the full operational, financial, and people performance of an assigned territory of Elevate EyeCare locations - typically at least $10 million in annual revenue across up to 9 clinics, with the exact
scope calibrated to market density, geographic complexity, and the individual leader's demonstrated track record. The Market Leader personally drives revenue growth and profitability in their territory, coaches and develops
General Managers, and is measured against clear, sustained performance standards from day one. This is a revenue-generating role, not a caretaker or maintenance position. Market Leaders are expected to grow
their territory's revenue and profitability year over year, and territory size, scope, and continued employment in the role are directly tied to sustained performance against that expectation.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Generation and Financial Performance
• Own full P&L accountability for the assigned territory, including revenue growth, profitability, labor cost management, and operational KPIs.
• Personally drive top-line revenue growth across every clinic in the territory - sustained growth is a core, ongoing condition of the role, not an occasional initiative.
• Meet or exceed territory revenue, profitability, and clinic-health targets on a sustained basis, reviewed no less than quarterly.
• Analyze market and business trends, identify revenue risk early, and personally lead measurable recovery plans - with clear milestones and timelines - for any underperforming location, and be personally accountable for the outcome.
• Build and execute territory-level growth strategy - patient acquisition, capture rate, optical sales, exam volume - in direct partnership with General Managers.
Leadership and People Management
• Directly lead, coach, and develop General Managers to achieve operational, financial, and people goals.
• Build leadership bench strength through succession planning, hands-on talent development, and honest, consistent performance management.
• Partner with Human Resources on recruiting, employee relations, coaching, corrective action, and separations.
• Set the standard for accountability and ownership at every clinic in the territory - General Managers take their cue from how the Market Leader leads.
• Elevate Eyecare runs on EOS (the Entrepreneurial Operating System). As a people leader, the Market Leader is expected to hold a weekly 1:1 with each direct report and to host their own Weekly L10 meeting, consistent with EOS practice.
Operational Excellence
• Drive consistent execution of company standards, SOPs, and compliance requirements through regular, hands-on site visits and business reviews.
• Optimize staffing, scheduling, and patient access across the territory to support both revenue growth and patient experience.
• Standardize best practices across clinics and continuously improve efficiency.
Patient Experience and Brand Standards
• Ensure every location in the territory delivers a consistent, patient-first experience aligned to Elevate EyeCare's brand standards.
• Personally address escalated patient concerns and coach General Managers on service recovery.
Quality, Compliance, and Risk Management
• Ensure compliance with company policy, HIPAA, safety standards, and applicable regulations across the territory.
• Protect company assets and proactively identify and escalate risk.
Leadership Expectations
• Makes timely, data-driven decisions that balance revenue growth, patient experience, employee engagement, and operational execution.
• Communicates proactively and takes ownership - does not wait to be asked about a declining metric.
• Models Elevate EyeCare's core values - Patient First, Growth Oriented, Respect, and Fun - in every interaction, with teams and patients alike.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Revenue (same-store sales) and EBITDA growth
• Expense and labor management
• Patient satisfaction and experience scores
• Staff retention and engagement
• Compliance and audit results
• Clinic-level performance metrics (exam and appointment volume, capture rate, revenue per refraction, etc.)
• Time-to-resolution on underperforming locations, including performance improvement plans
Requirements
Basic Qualifications Elevate Eyecare
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Healthcare Administration, or equivalent experience required.
• 3+ years of multi-office, multi-clinic, or multi-store operational experience, managing over $5 million in annual revenue, required.
• Prior direct P&L ownership required.
Skills and Competencies
• Proven ability to grow revenue in a multi-location environment - this is a required competency, not a preferred one.
• Strong financial acumen and business analytics.
• Direct, honest performance management and coaching skills, including experience managing out underperformance when necessary.
• Communication, relationship-building, and conflict resolution.
• Working knowledge of optical operations preferred. Work Environment and Travel Requirements
• Frequent travel between clinic locations within the assigned territory; travel expectations scale with clinic count and territory geography, up to approximately 80% on-site time depending on territory size.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.
• Some territories may require residence within or near the assigned market. Performance and Accountability Standard Because Market Leaders are directly accountable for territory revenue, sustained underperformance is treated as a core job-fit issue and addressed directly - not deferred.
• Performance is reviewed on a quarterly cadence against territory revenue, profitability, and clinic-health targets, with a formal annual review.
• A territory showing sustained decline - defined as underperformance against plan for two or more consecutive quarters without a credible, executed recovery plan - triggers a formal review of the Market Leader's fit for the role. That review looks at both results and how they were pursued, including alignment with Elevate EyeCare's core values.
• Outcomes of that review may include a performance improvement plan, reassignment to a smaller or different territory, or separation from the company. Tenure in the role, on its own, does not offset sustained underperformance.
• These expectations are disclosed upfront, at hire, so performance standards are clear from day one - not introduced after the fact.
