Job Overview

The Vice President, Total Rewards is the enterprise leader responsible for shaping and delivering a total rewards strategy that supports business performance, strengthens organizational capability, and enhances teammate engagement. Leading a high-performing team, this executive will provide strategic and operational direction across compensation, health and welfare benefits, retirement, well-being, mobility, and related rewards programs. The role will ensure programs are competitive, sustainable, scalable, compliant, and aligned with the Company's purpose, values, and teammate value proposition.

Duties & Responsibilities

Enterprise Total Rewards Strategy

Develop and steward the enterprise total rewards strategy, philosophy, and roadmap. Advise senior leaders on reward priorities, investment choices, market positioning, and emerging workforce needs.

Compensation and Incentives

Provide executive oversight for job architecture, market pricing, salary structures, base pay, annual merit planning, and short- and long-term incentive programs. Ensure programs are internally equitable, externally competitive, financially responsible, and aligned with business objectives.

Health, Welfare and Retirement

Lead the strategy, design, evaluation, implementation, and administration of health and welfare, retirement, savings, pension, and well-being programs. Regularly review union and non-union programs to ensure they remain competitive, cost-effective, valuable to teammates, and compliant with regulations, labor agreements, and collective bargaining requirements.

Executive and Board Support

Partner with internal stakeholders and external advisors to develop high-quality analysis, recommendations, and materials for the Corporate Benefits Committee and the Board of Directors, as appropriate.

Teammate Experience and Communications

Build clear, compelling communications that help current and former teammates understand benefit programs, program changes, required disclosures, and the full value of their total rewards package.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 10 or more years of progressively responsible Total Rewards, compensation, and benefits experience, including significant depth in the design and administration of programs across multiple sites and diverse job populations.
  • At least five years of senior HR leadership experience with responsibility for (or significant involvement in) hiring, developing, and leading a Total Rewards team in a corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and leading annual compensation, incentive, and benefits programs in a complex organization.
  • Strong knowledge of job architecture, market pricing, salary structures, broad-based compensation, incentive design, health and welfare plans, retirement programs, and vendor management.
  • Working knowledge of relevant tax, accounting, regulatory, disclosure, and compliance considerations, including SEC regulations and filings, proxy disclosures, FASB guidance, and the Internal Revenue Code, as applicable.
  • Experience managing union/labor arrangements for applicable workforce segments, including the ability to navigate collectively bargained benefits, compensation implications, and related compliance considerations.
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex data, evaluate tradeoffs, build persuasive recommendations, and influence senior leaders.
  • Strong business and financial acumen with a record of balancing teammate value, market competitiveness, affordability, risk, and operational feasibility.
  • Excellent written, verbal, facilitation, and executive presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, improve processes, manage multiple priorities, negotiate effectively, and deliver results through cross-functional partnership.
  • Ability to travel domestically as business needs require.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification such as CCP, GRP, CEBS, or CBP.
  • Experience supporting a Corporate Benefits Committee or Board of Directors.
  • Experience with union and non-union benefit populations, mergers and acquisitions, enterprise mobility, and large-scale program integration.
  • Experience modernizing Total Rewards through technology, analytics, process improvement, and enhanced teammate communications.
