Job Details

The Role:
Reporting to the Head of Americas & OEM, this is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious aircraft leasing executive with a demonstrable passion for sales and deal-making experience in a customer-facing role to join our Amercias team. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for new deal origination and aircraft marketing activities including managing and developing airline, OEM and supplier relationships across the region to meet Avolon's aircraft deployment and growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct management of key current and target airline customer relationships in the Americas, (accounts allocated based on experience and existing relationships);
  • Identify, develop and execute direct order placements, remarketing of existing fleet and origination of sale & leaseback or financing opportunities;
  • Support the broader Commercial team and Chief Commercial Officer in cultivating and upgrading airline relationships across the Americas, including travel to visit airlines, participation at industry events and conferences, as well as ongoing customer engagement and communication;
  • Leading and co-ordinating cross-functional deal teams to ensure Avolon's return/risk hurdles and corporate objectives are met;
  • Prepare transaction approval papers, collect and share QMI (Quick Market Intel) Meeting Notes/Memos within the organisation to deliver critical insights on transaction opportunities or airline restructurings;
  • Assist proactively in the execution and/or novation of leases as required;
  • Take ownership of and recommend improvements to the Deal Management System on behalf of this regional team;
  • Prepare meeting Notes and marketing materials for the Americas, Leadership team and ExCo.

The Person:
You will be self-motivated with a goal of becoming a market-leading deal maker and your previous experience will clearly illustrate that you thrive off front-facing commercial activities and customer relationship development. You will be driven, focused and resourceful as well as being a creative problem solver. You will represent Avolon with transparency, honesty and integrity, setting a strong example for others to follow. You will be able to articulate complex concepts in a concise way and put forward compelling arguments and rationales to all seniority levels and audiences within Avolon and the industry.

Essential Skills and Experience:
    • At least five (5) years' relevant experience;
    • Demonstrated interest in negotiation and proven experience either internally or externally delivering successful outcomes. Experience in aviation leasing negotiation may include Sale & Leaseback, Placement and Restructuring;
    • Ability to initiate, deepen and influence business relationships across diverse cultures throughout the aviation industry;
    • Demonstrated ability in managing multiple complex transactions in high pressure situations, including early identification and resolution of key transactional issues;
    • Proven commercial acumen and a keen understanding of the legal, technical and commercial issues impacting lease decision-making and business risk/reward hurdles;
    • Team player with significant experience in leading and managing deal/projects and motivating teams;
    • Ability and strong personal desire to travel extensively in order to develop and deepen business relationships across diverse cultures;
    • Strong emotional intelligence and demonstrated ability to work under pressure;
    • Utilizes skills, relationships, market intel and other connections to take on new commercial opportunities with a sense of urgency, energy and enthusiasm;
    • Consistently meets challenging and ambitious goals, ensures all stakeholders understand the goal and their role, and motivates others to push boundaries, leveraging experience of more senior colleagues as appropriate;
    • Works proactively to identify issues before they emerge, solves issues creatively by suggesting innovative solutions when faced with unexpected challenges;
