SUMMARY

Our client is seeking a Vice President, Sales & Marketing to build a scalable, unified commercial organization that supports the company's next phase of growth. This is a newly created executive role reporting directly to the COO/President, responsible for bringing together two historically separate sales functions (Engine and Drivetrain/Aftermarket) into one coordinated commercial team, and for elevating the company's marketing function from an internal-branding focus toward demand generation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Build the Commercial Foundation
  • Design and implement one standardized sales operating process, including consistent CRM adoption, pipeline management, and forecasting across a sales organization that operates with significant regional and individual autonomy
  • Unify previously separate OEM/forward-market and aftermarket sales motions into a single, coordinated commercial team with shared account visibility
  • Establish clear team structure and role definition (by industry vertical and/or region) for a sales organization currently operating in a hybrid, ad hoc structure
Lead and Develop the Team
  • Recruit, coach, and retain a high-performing sales organization; hire a replacement for a recently vacated service sales leadership role
  • Build bench strength and succession depth, reducing the organization's dependence on individual relationships and tribal knowledge
  • Manage change carefully with a seasoned, independent sales team; earn trust before introducing new process, and bring people along rather than dictating change
Drive Growth
  • Grow service & recurring revenue, the company's highest margin & most defensible growth area
  • Build out sales presence to support an active facility expansion in Dallas, and fill an open OEM sales leadership vacancy in the Midwest
  • Strengthen national account, OEM/vendor, and customer retention programs
  • Improve pricing discipline and margin performance across the sales organization
Elevate Marketing
  • Transition the marketing function (currently focused on internal branding, employee engagement, and SEO) into the commercial organization and expand its role in top-of-funnel demand generation
  • Partner with the VP of Development on product-line strategy, market expansion, and go-to-market planning
REQUIREMENTS
  • Proven B2B industrial sales leadership experience, ideally within service, aftermarket, heavy/off-highway equipment, power systems, or technical distribution
  • A hunter mentality and track record of new business development, along with the ability to teach and instill that mindset in an experienced sales team
  • Demonstrated success scaling a multi-location business and implementing commercial systems and process discipline
  • Strong understanding of service economics, customer retention, recurring revenue, and customer lifecycle management
  • Ability to operate across sales, marketing, operations, and OEM/vendor relationships
  • A builder mentality: someone who creates sustainable systems and develops talent rather than relying on individual heroics
  • High emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and the courage to make difficult decisions while bringing people along through change
  • Humble, low-ego, collaborative, and relationship-oriented, with strong personal accountability
