Job Summary

The Vice President of Quality & Clinical Effectiveness is responsible for enterprise-wide strategy, leadership, and execution of quality, patient safety, and clinical effectiveness initiatives. This role ensures high-quality, evidence-based, and patient-centered care while driving continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and measurable clinical outcomes. This role is critical to the advancement of our evolution as a high reliability organization and promote our Just Culture. The VP partners with executive leadership, clinical leaders, and operational teams to translate data and best practices into sustainable improvements in care delivery, outcomes, and value.

Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and lead the organization's quality and clinical effectiveness strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Serve as an executive advisor on quality, safety, and clinical outcomes.
  • Establish governance structures for quality improvement and clinical effectiveness initiatives.
  • Responsible for helping to ensure impactful and concise Quality Board Meetings and regularly presents at Board Meetings.

Quality & Patient Safety
  • Oversee enterprise quality programs, including patient safety, patient experience, and works closely with risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission, FDA, ISO, as applicable).
  • Ensures high-quality root cause analyses, corrective action plans, and system-wide safety initiatives are being executed.

Clinical Effectiveness & Outcomes
  • Drive adoption of evidence-based practices, clinical pathways, and standards of care.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce unwarranted clinical variation and improve outcomes.
  • Collaborate with clinicians to design and implement best-practice care models.

Performance Measurement & Analytics
  • Define and monitor quality, safety, and clinical performance metrics.
  • Leverage data analytics, dashboards, and benchmarking to guide decision-making.
  • Report quality and outcomes performance to executive leadership and the Board.
  • Helps negotiate and monitor all externally reported data and pay for performance contracts.

Continuous Improvement/High Reliability
  • Champion High Reliability, Just Culture, Lean, Six Sigma, or other performance improvement methodologies.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, transparency, and accountability.
  • Scale successful pilots and innovations across the organization.

Leadership & Collaboration
  • Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams (quality, clinical analytics, patient safety, improvement specialists).
  • Partner with Medical Affairs, Operations, Compliance, Regulatory, and IT teams.
  • Engage physicians, nurses, and clinical leaders to drive alignment and adoption.
